Welcome to Year 5 Hawthorn
Mrs McEvans
Teaching Assistant - Mrs Payne (AM)
Welcome
We hope you and your families have enjoyed a lovely Easter break. We have a great summer term ahead of us and our first value is 'joy'. Please see below for curriculum information.
We will use Twitter to regularly share examples of the learning and experiences that happen over the course of each term.
We are very excited to continue working with you and helping you succeed in all aspects of your year with us, so please let us know if we can help in any way. The Year 5 team can be contacted on info@stjohnsrc.net
Key Information
PE
Mondays and Thursdays.
This year, children are to come into school in full school uniform and get changed into their PE kits on their PE days. Please bring full PE kits into school on these days.
Reading Books
We encourage children to read for at least 30 minutes every day. We would appreciate your support in helping them to find some time every day to enjoy a book.
Children will be given a book band reading book and a 'reading for pleasure' book to take home. There will be an opportunity to change these books every Friday.
Homework
Please login into Atom Prime each week: https://atomlearning.com/prime
English and maths will be added every Thursday.
The spellings for this year are below. Children will have spelling lessons in class and activities and quizzes throughout the week. Weekly spellings will be written in purple spelling books and these are to be brought into school each day. We would appreciate your support in reminding children to practice these words at home.
