Cafod

Each year, during Lent and a time when we try to reflect and put our needs into perspective, our Cafod representative joins us for a special assembly to highlight the work of CAFOD.

This year, we learnt about how hard it is for many families and children to survive in a harsh environment where war, or a natural disaster, has occured. CAFOD representatives are working hard throughout the world to offer essential supplies, tools and training. Ultimately this helps families cultivate their own crops, become independent farmers and empower their enterprise potential.

Our Year 5 children participated in small group workshops and looked in more detail about how this process works in practise. We were inspired by those members of our faith community who have volunteered for CAFOD. Volunteers who had taken themselves out of their comfort zone and put their gifts and talents into practise helping others to build a better life for themselves. Rewarding work indeed!
