Welcome

I would like to welcome you to the family of St John’s!

St John’s is a joyful, vibrant and welcoming school where every day matters. We know how precious each school day is, and we want every child’s time with us to be filled with happiness, curiosity, friendship and discovery. Our staff and governors work closely together to ensure that all children feel valued, celebrated and part of a warm, caring community. We take inspiration from St Catherine of Siena, who reminds us to “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

We place your child at the heart of everything we do. Our curriculum is broad, creative and ambitious, giving children the confidence to try new things, take risks in their learning and develop a real love of knowledge. We are incredibly fortunate to have exceptional school grounds including woods, open fields, trees, sports pitches, astro‑turf and a climbing frame which allow children to learn, explore and play freely. Joyful outdoor learning is central to life at St John’s and helps children grow in independence, resilience and imagination.

Our enrichment programme is one of our greatest strengths. Children can explore their gifts through a huge range of opportunities from art, debate and music to rugby, outdoor education and Irish band. With our musician‑in‑residence and artist‑in‑residence, creativity is part of every day. Our trips, visits and residentials, including our long‑standing link with Nigrán in Spain, bring learning to life and help broaden children’s horizons.

We are also proud to hold the Specialist Sports Status Gold Award, recognising the energy, teamwork and resilience shown by our pupils whenever they represent St John’s. When children leave us, we want them to step into secondary school (and life beyond!) with confidence, kindness and the skills they need to shine.

Above all, we live our mission each day by 'nurturing hearts and inspiring minds', helping every child grow into the unique, talented person they are called to be.

We would be delighted to welcome you to visit and discover for yourself why St John’s is such a special place to learn, play and grow.
