Governors

St John’s RC Primary School is part of Emmaus Catholic Academy Trust (Emmaus CAT). As an academy within the Trust, our governors form a Local Governing Body (LGB). Each academy within Emmaus CAT has its own Local Governing Body. The Trust Board has overall responsibility for the Trust and its academies, while a range of responsibilities are delegated to Local Governing Bodies through the Emmaus Scheme of Delegation.

The Local Governing Body supports the Trust’s ethos of aligned autonomy, allowing St John’s to retain its own distinctive Catholic identity and respond to the needs of our pupils, families, parish and local community, while working within the shared expectations of Emmaus CAT.

They are not responsible for the day-to-day management of the school; this is the responsibility of the Headteacher and senior leadership team.

The work of the Local Governing Body includes oversight of areas such as Catholic life and mission, safeguarding, SEND, pupil premium, curriculum, standards, health and safety, finance and school improvement, in accordance with the responsibilities delegated by Emmaus CAT.

The St John’s Local Governing Body meets six times during the academic year.
