Enrichment Clubs

At St John’s, enrichment is at the heart of school life.

We believe children thrive when they are given opportunities to discover new interests, develop confidence, build friendships and experience success beyond the classroom. Our extensive enrichment programme helps us to develop the whole child — spiritually, creatively, academically, physically and socially.

Enrichment is deeply embedded within our school community. Alongside our teaching staff, we are proud to have a dedicated music teacher, two full-time sports coaches and an artist-in-residence who help provide exceptional opportunities for our children every week.

From sport and outdoor adventure to music, art, dance and mindfulness, we aim to provide something for every child to enjoy.

Our clubs take place before school, at lunchtime, after school and at weekends, with many led by specialist coaches, musicians, artists and practitioners. Children are also encouraged to help shape our enrichment offer through School Council and Sports Council pupil voice.

Music and Performance

Music is a huge part of life at St John’s. Children have opportunities to sing, perform, compose and play instruments from an early age through choirs, bands and instrumental clubs led by specialist teachers and musicians. Our children regularly perform in concerts, celebrations and community events, including Young Voices at the AO Arena and our much-loved St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Sport and Physical Development

Physical activity and movement are a central part of life at St John’s. Our full-time sports coaches provide a wide range of opportunities for children to develop confidence, teamwork and fundamental movement skills through high-quality coaching, competitive sport and active play.

Creativity and the Arts

Creativity is celebrated throughout our enrichment programme. Through art, textiles, craft and performance, children are encouraged to express themselves, take creative risks and develop resilience and confidence. Our artist-in-residence helps inspire children through creative projects, community events and opportunities to engage with the arts in meaningful and exciting ways.

Outdoor Learning and Adventure

With extensive grounds and woodland areas, outdoor learning plays an important role in life at St John’s. Through Forest School and outdoor play opportunities, children build independence, teamwork, problem-solving skills and a connection with the natural world.

A sense of belonging

More than anything, our enrichment programme is about joy, community and helping children discover what makes them shine.
